Your Smaller Wedding

If you’ve attended big weddings at lavish banquet halls, you may have been overwhelmed by the setting, maybe you even felt out of touch with the legions of attendees across the room – all the way over “there”.

Having a Superb Photographer

Having a Superb Photographer is a Benefit for your Wedding day and Beyond.

It’s true.
In the “old” days, you hired a photographer just for your wedding day. I know I did. But here’s an idea. Go searching pre-engagement for the photographer of your dreams and, who knows, you may be set for engagement, boudoir, THE day, and, yes, the day after.

Wrap the entire above up in a...

Dinner In A MovieDinner In A Movie
November 23, 2010

“Man, you need to slide yourself back a little more,” said a young male food server to me at AMC Essex Green 9 in West Orange . I was sitting upright in my Cinema Suites luxury recliner, and I summoned the help of my daughter, Stefanie.

“Hey, how do I make my chair go back?”

“There’s two buttons over there,” she responded, pointing to the right arm of my seat. “One of them reclines you, the other one puts you back to normal.”

Normal? Nothing at AMC Dine-In Theatres is “normal” by my theater experience standards – and when I pushed that button, I was on an almost 180 degree angle, and I could see the tips of my dress shoes.

AMC Essex Green 9 is the first in New Jersey – that combines restaurant cuisine and cocktails and watching movies. This week, a second AMC Movie/Food combo opens in Bridgewater...

Vegetarian in New Brunswick
November 17, 2010

Okay, I’ll admit it. I don’t like falafel.   Heck, I can’t even pronounce it!

I apologize to owner Larry Goldberg of Maoz Vegetarian (385 George Street, 732-543-1600), one of fourteen Maoz Vegetarian locations in the world, and the first in New Jersey (with a second soon to come in Hoboken), embarrassed by my mispronunciation.

“Hey, ‘toe may toe’ and ‘toe mah toe’ – big deal.”

I like this guy, and I like his shoebox of an eatery. This is a tiny place with a counter to order from, a salad bar of fixings, and two wooden tables and some counter seats looking out over George Street.

Marcy was the counter person this day, and she greets us and asks us what we know about Maoz Vegetarian. The only thing I knew was that, on this day, after we parked our car in the Church St

Cedar Lane Bookstore Offers An Escape

Cedar Lane BookstoreYou have to love an old bookstore. There's just something to a bookstore that has old books on older, wooden bookshelves, most forgotten or ignored completely by the population. The store has comfortable feel to it, a great spot to escape from the outside world and friendly talk with a sole proprietor.

Dine on the Porch, Take in the History: Dutch House Tavern Turning 50

Two burgers–14 ounces of meat–topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onions for only $9.95. It's called the Double Dutch Burger, and it's the signature menu item at the Dutch House Tavern on Fair Lawn Avenue.

"Don't forget the Whirly Burger (topped with grilled taylor ham and American cheese)," said Marlies Drahouzal, one of three family owners. "That's very popular, too."

Looking For a Waterfront Dining Experience?

Piermont's View On The Hudson has a tradition of riverside meals, weddings and more

Piermont's View on the Hudson The big selling point could be its octagonal banquet hall and adjoining cocktail lounge, which can host an affair 240 people strong.

Another could be the sprawling bar area, second floor bridal suite and balcony. Or the superb service, whether it be for a dinner or a wedding.

However, the biggest selling point—a true beauty that can take a very close second to a glamorous bride tossing a bouquet—is View on the Hudson's neighbor: the Hudson River.
